In 1962 was born the first Havaianas (took the name from the Portuguese for Hawaiians). Its shapes take inspirations from the “Zori” Japanese sandal, whose soles are made of rice straw. The texture of Havaianas’ rubber soles are like rice grains, one of the many dtails that make Havaianas unmistakable. By 1964 practically every worker in Brazil wore a pair, and in 1966 Alpargata registers the patent for the rubber flip-flops. At first, Havaianas only came in blue and white, but in 1969, due to a manufactiuring error, the iconic green version of Havaianas was produced and sold, giving the chanche to produce many other colours. In 1995 was produced the first Havaianas with a fantasy printed on them and was born also the Fit and Baby models; from then the brand grew more until now that is distributed in over 60 nations with over a thousend of colours, one for every occasion!
